This is a logo I put together the other day for the title screen.

I think it's great but I don't really like it, it ruins the original mood of super Mario brothers, I though it was just gonna Super Mario Bros. Wii

I'd like to see the original title screen logo in it somewhere. And drop the wii.

i think it looks nice but iono...hmmm it feels like it doesn't fit...can try making it more like the old one with the box around and see how that goes..well if you want...lol

I think it looks pretty good. I'd drop the Wii though, and center it like the "New Super Mario Bros" for DS, with Retro Remix under that.

Ok I added a new version with a background plate so it is more like the original. I didn't drop the "Wii" part because then people would think it is for the ds game. Since that is called New Super Mario Bros.

Not really. I'm sure if the Wii game came out first, it would have been "New Super Mario Bros" and the DS game would have been "New Super Mario Bros DS". Its debatable weather the "New" is needed or not, but I think the Wii is really unnecessary. If we somehow made a completely custom Star Fox game based on Star Fox 64, would we really need the 64, or could we just drop it and call it "Star Fox: [title here]"?

Anyway, as for advice on the logo.

I think the first one looked fine, but here is my advice for changes:
- Try reducing the amount of depth of the letters
- Push the "Retro Remix" part back, so that its touching the background plate like the other letters.
- After reducing the letter depth, reduce the size of the letters so that it all fits on the board.
- Its hard to tell, but make the red plate this color, or darker, if it isn't already.
- Don't slant the background plate at all. Leave it vertical, with the letters coming out of it, like they are one object.


I have a few other ideas, but try some of those and see how it turns out (if you think it will improve it).

one note is for the channel the title (when you hover the pointer over the channel) can only be 20 characters long so would have to say

Or NSMBW: Retro Remix if we keep the Wii.

for USB Loader GX, I believe "New Super Mario Bros Retro Remix" fits perfectly in the space. Don't remember 100% though.

Ok look now I say it looks much better with the plate, I think that you should only have Super Mario Bros. Wii it will look more classic, the "retro" remix kinda ruins it

I think its just because the Retro Remix is out further than the rest of the letters. If it was pushed back I think it would look fine.

Hmmmm I think it look great with the plate. And I'm starting to come round to the idea of calling it "super mario bros wii" it does fit better with the original and you could almost replicate the original title logo too.

Yea, except it would be impossible to google search it, because you don't have a single unique term that isn't used in the original title. Also, several, several other projects out there are already using similar names to that.

Ok I am not going to do any more work on this until the title is made official. I am happy with New Super Mario Bros. Retro Remix I think we need the Retro Remix part because it sets this project apart from the others and as VampireLordAlucard pointed out will be better for our google ranking. Also it doesn't refer to just the original game but allows for the Lost Levels as well.

Once the title is decided I can do some more versions.

Hamradio has given the reasons for choosing that name in the post above yours, i for one agree with those reasons.

My choice: New Super Mario Bros: Retro Remix

Reasons:

• Keep the "New": It tells what type of Mario game this is, just like "Paper" and "Doctor" do. "New" is the style and game engine we are using, and I believe it is essential that we keep it. If this were a paper mario hack, no one would dare suggest that we remove 'paper' from the title.
  
  
• Ditch the "Wii": Declaring what system the game is on is somewhat redundant. If the Wii game came out first, it probably wouldn't have Wii in the title. This was only really added to separate it from the DS game. Our game is already separated from the Wii game with Retro Remix, so I don't see why we need the "Wii".
  
  
• Removing the extra 5 characters ("Wii", with a space before and after) makes it easier to load the full name in USB Loader, type the name into the save file, etc. "New Super Mario Bros Retro Remix" fits perfectly into USB Loader GX. People are going to shorten the title down if we go with "New Super Mario Bros Wii: Retro Remix", which might lead to some confusion about the official title. The title should remain firm and consistent, everywhere.
  
  
• Reason for "Retro Remix": It is extremely important that our title is unique from anything else that came before it. Titles like "Old Super Mario Bros" and "Super Mario Bros Wii" have been used before, and are typically crappy gamemaker or flash projects. They are also very difficult to google search, because they are so close to official game titles. Having something like "Retro Remix" gives the title unique terms that are easily searchable.
  

Again, this is all just my opinion. I wouldn't be so against including the "Wii", its just a little extra baggage. I do believe that the "New" really is essential to the project though. I mean, its a New Super Mario Bros hack, so why would you remove the "New" from the title?!

As much as I agree with this point, I just think the logo looks a lot better removing the "New" as compared to removing the "Wii"

If it's called Super Mario Bros. Wii: Retro Remix, I think people would understand that it originated from NSMBW, and we don't need the "new" to be a part of it
