Like the topic says I need some help. For the past couple weeks I have been bug testing and fixing all the levels. I guess I'm not as good with reggie as I would like to be.
So I need someone to test and hopefully fix the stuff I just can't seem to figure out. So here's every level in one convienient zip file http://www.mediafire.com/?9bcc8lu2qn18kzg you will also need the custom tiles textures and backgrounds from the download center as well as the Pa2_kinoko (mushroom) set. I don't think it is in with the rest of the stuff in the download center, In fact I don't really remember where I came up with it so here's a link to that too. http://www.mediafire.com/?5wgr5xut21m6db2


Here's a short list of things I know are wrong, most of them are view related.

3-1 start view
4-1 the vine exit
4-3 bonus room view
6-2 bonus room views
8-2 there is suppost to be a wiggiling mushroom platform at the start instead of the ledge, no idea why it won't show up! probobly the view, but it is not a big deal.
8-3 Won't play. I played this level many times, I have no idea why it won't play now.
Also the view of many a bonus room is not where I want it to be. Hopefully these will be easy fixes for someone who actually knows what they're doing.
Any other fixes or suggestions would be appreciated.

edit: Besides the views I was never happy with the platforms generators either.

I haven't checked it in-game, but what do you mean by the view? You mean where the camera is when the level starts?

If so, it has to do with the zone size and position. I'll try to explain without being too confusing >_<

  • Open a level from either SMB or SMB 2: LL. Go to settings -> zones.

  • Each 'block' in Reggie is 16 x 16(I think).

  • Notice that all of the areas have a zone y size of 224. This is the exact height of the screen.
    (Because we set the zone y size to 224, when the player jumps, etc, the screen doesn't pan up or down)

  • Also notice, that the x position, y position, and x size are all divisible by 16. This is just to make the level borders exact.

  • Rounding off these numbers to increments of 16, and shrinking the unnecessary space in your zones will fix the views.


For example, for 3-1. Change the zone info to this, and lemme know if it's better:
  • x position: 368
  • y position: 240

  • x size: 565
  • y size: 224


Changing all of these is very time consuming. IMO, the easiest way is to start by giving the ground 2 visible blocks in the zone. Then, make sure the zone is 14 blocks (224) high. Next, check the maps to see where the left / right borders should be. Finally, go to the zones option and round the numbers to increments of 16.

Man, hope this is what you meant by the views >_<

Thanx for the advice Vampire Lord, it will be helpful. Yes I am refering to the camera view. It's mostly a problem of the camera suddenly zooming out. or going into "bonus rooms" and them being zoomed way out, off center, jittery etc. I had all ready gone through all the levels and made them 14 squares tall but I will go through them individually and make sure. Before I do I also need to know what to set the x tracking y tracking bias and zoom on the levels to. should the zoom be zero on a level, what of a small bonus room. Like I said I've been trying to fix these for weeks so I'm pretty burnt out, so I would like to get it done all at once.

Ahh, I see. I was looking at your old files, and not the new ones you posted.

Just downloaded the new set. Lets see.. I'm not really sure about the zoom level and all that. My best advice would be to look at the other levels for reference. About it being jittery, I believe that happens when the zone is *close* to the screen size, but not exact. The camera 'wiggles' around a few pixels, I think.

Sorry I'm not of more help! Briefly looking through the updated pack, it looks like you tightened the zones quite a bit, and cleaned up the levels some too. Especially that first castle! Keep up the good work, and again, sorry if I can't be of more help >_<
