PostSubject: Project Status / Checklist   Fri Sep 17, 2010 12:45 pm

Its been pointed out many times, so I'm finally starting a list of everything that we have left to work on. Just as the Download Center was a great central resource to everything completed, this will be a central resource to everything that needs completion. The idea is to get feedback from everybody contributing to see what should / shouldn't be edited, how it should be edited, etc.

This is just a very basic list for now to get us started, please post back more suggestions / things I've missed:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Levels:
  • Make finishing changes to Super Mario Bros 1
  • Make finishing changes to Super Mario Bros 2
  • Decide what to do with worlds 9-D.
  • Figure out way to improve the Bowser levels.
  • Edit toad houses to remove certain powerups and / or to make new minigames
  • Edit / remove enemy encounters (if possible to remove)
  • Finish / update credits level

Assets:

  • Finalize custom tilesets
  • Finalize custom backgrounds
  • Design custom menus
  • Work on modified objects (texture hacks, tweeked 3D models, etc)
  • Modify overworld(?)

Other:

  • Make logo for our team
  • Decide on distribution method (ISO, Riivolution, supported regions, where to post, etc)

faith genesis raven, thanks for the encouragement. Its been hard to find time to work on this, or the motivation.

Remixer, I have absolutely no idea how the tilesets got messed up. But almost all of them are. If you open them up with Wart and look at the graphics, its messed up. Its hard to explain, but it looks like the bottom row of pixels from every 'block' is missing, and the top row of every 'block' is doubled.

CanadaX21 wrote a script that makes converting music much easier, but there are still a few things I don't know. For the starting and ending location, where do you get those numbers from? For example, someone else said the loop points for one song was..

Loop Start: 802816
Loop End: 3983847

How do you get these numbers?

I also use Riivolution. We'll probably make a custom XML for the release.

Ok, I'll mess with that some if / when I get a chance.

I'm sorry everyone that this is taking so much longer than expected. I haven't had any time to work on stuff. Things have been really hectic for me lately.

Super late reply, sorry! We don't have a finalized list of music, because we never really made a final decision on what music to use. CanadaX21 has cleaned up that section a lot since you made your post, and if you look at the polls you can see what music people preferred. Converting the top choices and the music listed in the "Music Coodrinator" thread would be a good start.

I believe -1 is already part of 1-2 in the remake. Also on a side note the negative levels on the japanese game has 3 or four negative levels, and they can be completed. I'm not 100% so I'll try to find some maps.

Yep, -1 is already apart of 1-2. There is a hidden entrance to it in the same place as the NES game.

What was your idea for levels 9 - D?

Actually, i think that you guys don't have to try making an ISO, because when you edit somethings, the game doesn't run on the wii. I haven't found a way to edit the textures or the save_banner and make the ISO play on wii, it only plays on Dolphin.
So, maybe the problem is on my wii or the problem is something that i haven't modified on the game, but i don't think the game will function as an ISO, the newer team never made an ISO because of that.

The Newer team won't release an ISO for legal reasons. They can make it work just fine if they wanted to.

Our last build worked fine as an ISO, on hardware. We did run into a few problems though, but I believe we resolved them all so far. Don't remember what we did to make save_banner work. Some of the textures are kinda picky, while others change without issue. Any textures in particular that don't work?

Some things notorious for breaking the game:
- Making certain files larger than the original file was
- Using a modified tileset for a level, then not including the tileset in the ISO (blackscreens level)

Where can I download the latest version and are there any plans to incorporate all of SMB3 into the mod?

I had such high hopes for this project.
It was sad to see no one helping in any way besides VampireLordAlucard and myself.
Maybe I need to dig up all my files that I had worked on, just need to find which computer / hard drive has all my updated stuff lol

If this project isn't entirely dead yet I would love to help with level porting. I use level editors from the original games and put the levels on a grid. Then I put reggie on a grid and port the level to the best of my abilities. Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile
